2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Prices, Reviews, and Photos

The name “Mustang” may be misleading to many. In labeling an all-electric, four-door SUV as the Mustang, Ford has made a bold statement. However, when it comes to the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E, it is important to note that, despite sharing part of its name with Ford’s last remaining passenger car, this model differs significantly from the internal combustion engine Mustang. The only commonality between the two lies in their familial appearance.

What’s New for 2022?

Entering its second model year, the 2022 Mustang Mach-E, which earned our inaugural EV of the Year accolade, now boasts a slightly enhanced battery capacity, promising a greater real-world range. The California 1 model has welcomed the addition of all-wheel drive, along with the inclusion of a heated steering wheel and heated front seats as standard features. Moreover, the GT variant now showcases a sleek black-painted roof. Much like its Mustang pony car counterpart, the Mach-E can now be acquired in an exclusive all-white special edition aptly named the Ice White Edition.

This captivating appearance package is exclusively available on the Premium trim level and showcases a striking tri-coat Star White metallic paint with Oxford White details, including the 19-inch wheels and exterior badges. Additionally, the vibrant Grabber Blue and Cyber Orange paint colors are now open to other models beyond the GT.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Price

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has an RRP range of £59,380 to £74,540.

Compared to Ford’s standards, the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E carries a rather hefty price tag, starting at around £50,000. In fact, it’s almost as expensive as the iconic V8-engined Mustang Coupe itself(!). However, it’s worth noting that Mach-E falls in line with its competitors in terms of price. Take, for example, the Kia EV6, which is only slightly cheaper but offers a slightly higher battery capacity, resulting in a greater on-paper range. The EV6 also outperforms the Mustang Mach-E in terms of real-world battery performance. Similar comparisons can be drawn with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which can be obtained for a significantly lower price—although the base model does come with a smaller battery and a sub-300 mile range.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

The 2022 Mustang Mach-E offers two battery options: a standard-range 70.0-kWh pack or an extended-range 91.0-kWh pack. These batteries power electric motors positioned on the rear or both axles, providing either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The GT and GT Performance models boast a combined motor output of 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque, propelling the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. However, our test drive revealed that the GT Performance model didn’t quite meet our expectations.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe

The range-topping Mustang Mach-E, equipped with rear-wheel drive and the extended-range battery, impresses with an EPA-estimated range of 305 miles. Opting for the all-wheel-drive version and the extended battery still provides an impressive estimated driving range of 270 miles. It’s important to note that the range can vary depending on the model and equipment chosen. During our thorough testing regimen, we put the Mach-E with the larger battery to the test on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route, where it delivered an impressive 250-mile range on a single charge. With the increased capacity for 2022, we anticipate an additional real-world highway range of approximately 8 miles.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
